Manchester United make Kenyan enforcer their primary target

Manchester United are set to make Celtic’s combative central midfielder Victor Wanyama their primary transfer target, reports SunSport.
The 21-year-old Kenyan international has turned many heads since his move to Parkhead with his wonderful destructive play, getting amongst opponents and breaking up attacks, coupled with a real ability on the ball; Wanyama is much more than a bruiser, he also has an excellent passing range.
This, coupled with his ability to fill in at centre-back and to find the back of the net (the midfielder has struck 8 goals in 38 games for the Scottish club) led many to notice his talent from a young age; he made his debut for Kenya in 2007 aged just 15.
It would appear that said talent is now receiving serious attention in Europe following his move to Celtic for £900,000. His versatility made him a target for Arsenal following the departure of Alex Song, and Liverpool are reportedly interested, but it appears that it will be Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson who moves first for Wanyama in the January transfer window.
However, whilst the signing would be a good one for United as they are reportedly in the market for a more destructive midfielder, it is unlikely to happen in January; Ferguson is reportedly willing to offer £12m, but Celtic manager Neil Lennon values him at £25m, and has previously stated that he is unwilling to sell the Kenyan.
With this being Lennon’s mentality and Wanyama under contract until 2015, Celtic are under no pressure to sell and as such probably won’t – unless United really break the bank.
