Liverpool look set to make one of their first offers of the January window to Dutch Eredivisie club Vitesse for the services of 23-year-old striker Wilfried Bony. According to the Daily Express on Nov. 19, 2012 the English Premier League club is lining up an offer in the range of £8 million for the player.
Bony has had a breakout season so far in the Holland top flight having scored 12 goals so far this campaign to lead the Eredivisie scoring charts. The new mantra of the Reds is to buy young and allow the players to have the time to grown into manager Brendan Rodgers’ systems of total football.
Having seen the fast adaptation of former Heerenveen star Oussama Assaidi to Liverpool’s system since he arrived in January from the Eredivisie, it is expected that another young addition from one of Europe’s best developmental leagues could be a solid investment.
It must not be forgotten that the Reds’ star striker in Luis Suarez also got his European star in the Eredivisie with Groningen and then Ajax before he was purchased by Liverpool two years ago come this January.
