Luis Suarez's some of the Controversies

Posted by TR On 00:47

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez is back in the spotlight after appearing to bite Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic on the arm during the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Anfield, going on to score a late equaliser.
Here are some of the previous controversies surrounding the Uruguayan forward.
February 2007: Suarez made his international debut for Uruguay against Colombia but was sent off in the final minutes after being shown a second yellow card for dissent.
November 2007: Joined Ajax from Uruguayan side Nacional but he was later suspended by the Dutch giants after a half-time dressing-room altercation with team-mate Albert Luque.
July 2010: During the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals, Suarez prevented Ghana's Dominic Adiyiah from scoring in the final minute with a deliberate handball on the line and was subsequently sent off. A penalty was awarded but missed by Asamoah Gyan and footage showed Suarez celebrating on the sidelines. Uruguay eventually went through to the last four on penalties.
November 2010: Suarez was handed a seven-match ban by the Dutch FA and fined by his club for biting PSV Eindhoven midfielder Otman Bakkal during an Eredivisie match.
October 2011: Following his move to Liverpool in January 2011, he was involved in a tackle with Everton's Jack Rodwell and goes down with apparent minimal contact. Rodwell was then sent off.
October 2011: Suarez was alleged to have racially abused Manchester United's Patrice Evra during a Premier League match. Suarez was later found guilty by an independent regulatory commission and banned for eight matches and fined £40,000.
December 2011: Was seen making an offensive gesture towards Fulham fans. At this time he had already been charged by the Football Association over the racism incident, although not yet punished, but was handed a further one-match ban for the gesture.
February 2012: United and Liverpool met again at Old Trafford, but more controversy blew up as Suarez refused to shake Evra's hand before kick-off.
October 2012: Celebrated a goal against Everton by diving in front of Toffees boss David Moyes who had earlier claimed that "divers" such as Suarez were putting fans off the English game.
January 2013: Handles the ball prior to scoring Liverpool's winner in the FA Cup third round tie at Mansfield.
April 2013: Appears to bite Branislav Ivanovic on the arm but escapes punishment on the pitch as the referee fails to see it, and scores Liverpool's equaliser seven minutes into stoppage time as they draw 2-2 with Chelsea at Anfield.

World Cup 2014: How the qualifying groups stand around the world

Posted by TR On 21:02

Europe (UEFA)

Nine group winners qualify and four from play-offs featuring the best eight second-placed finishers.
Spain start slowly
Presuming they qualify, Spain's push for an impossible fourth straight championship will be the dominant story of the World Cup. But the holders, who have won the last two European Championships, did not start their Group I campaign perfectly.
They needed a late Roberto Soldado winner to beat Georgia before letting leads slip in home draws with France and Finland. But Spain always seem to do what they need to and their 1-0 win in the Stade de France on Tuesday night, thanks to Pedro's winner, has put them back on top of the group with three games left. Only their trip to Helsinki in September should challenge them.
Germany and the Netherlands set the pace
As with the qualification for Euro 2012, the Netherlands and Germany have started the fastest. The Netherlands are trying to return to their classical principles under Louis van Gaal and have won all six games in Group D, leaving them seven points clear of Hungary. Van Gaal is making use of young midfielders Kevin Strootman, Adam Maher and Jordy Clasie.
Joachim Löw's Germany also have a young side, and 20-year-old Mario Götze led the line in their 4-1 defeat of Kazakhstan on Tuesday. Germany, unlike the Netherlands, have dropped two points so far but lead Group C by six and should certainly qualify in September.
Rise of former Yugoslav countries
While Croatia and Serbia are fairly regular World Cup competitors, two smaller nations from the former Yugoslavia could play in Brazil. Bosnia have never reached a major tournament but they are two points clear at the top of Group G. Edin Dzeko is a superstar in Sarajevo and he has scored seven goals so far, the most in Europe.
Montenegro is smaller than Bosnia and newer as an independent football nation, but they are certainly effective, as England found out on Tuesday. They are two points clear in Group H but still have to come to Wembley in October. And Croatia are close in Group A.
Belgium's golden generation
Any watcher of the Premier League knows how good this generation of Belgian players is РVincent Kompany, Eden Hazard, Marouane Fellaini, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Demb̩l̩ and so on. In this campaign they are all producing, giving Belgium a chance at their first major tournament since 2002.
In a competitive Group A, Belgium are ahead of Croatia on goal difference, having drawn with them at home last September, and beaten Wales, Serbia, Scotland and Macedonia. The crucial rematch, in Split, is in October. Belgium, for the first time in years, have a better chance of qualification than neighbours France.
Balotelli's Italy
The best performance of Mario Balotelli's career so far was in the Euro 2012 semi-final against Germany, and with more of the same in this campaign he can fire Italy to the World Cup. Balotelli rewarded Cesare Prandelli's continued trust with two goals in Malta this week, providing a win that leaves Italy three points clear at the top of Group B with a game in hand.
Prandelli may be joined in Brazil by another famous Italian coach. Fabio Capello's Russia have won all four Group F games so far, and are ahead of Portugal and Israel, but have played fewer than half their games so far.
South America (CONMEBOL)
Top four qualify, fifth-placed plays off against fifth Asian team. Brazil qualify as hosts.
Aregentina's time again?
For years Argentina have seemed almost overburdened by the weight of attacking talent they have, but since Alejandro Sabella took over following their 2011 Copa America disaster they are starting to reach their potential. Argentina are top of the South American group, from which the top four automatically progress, with five games left.
Of course, qualification is not certain yet but it would take a remarkable collapse for them to fail to make it. And with Gonzalo Higuain having scored nine goals so far and Lionel Messi eight, as well as Javier Mascherano, Angel di Maria, Pablo Zabaleta and others, it looks rather unlikely.
Uruguay stumbling
Having reached the semi-finals in the 2010 World Cup and won the 2011 Copa America, Uruguay should have been confident of qualification for 2014. But they are sixth, with 13 points from 11 games, and need to climb above Venezuela – fighting to reach their first World Cup – just to reach the play-off place.
Luis Suarez, unsurprisingly, is leading their charge, with eight goals so far, but he could be banned for up to three future qualifiers after seeming to punch Chile defender Gonzalo Jara last week. Without him, Uruguay's task could be even harder.
Dark horses on the march
Second and third places behind Argentina are currently occupied by Ecuador and Colombia. Ecuador have only appeared at two World Cups before, in 2002 and 2006, but they are a very solid unit and have enough firepower in Felipe Caicedo, Christian Benitez and Antonio Valencia to hold on to their position in the group.
Colombia, one point behind in third place, have even more attacking quality to call upon. Falcao, the £50m-rated striker, leads the line with help from Porto's brilliant winger James Rodriguez and Fredy Guarin of Internazionale. Not many teams could live with them on their day.
Brazil have work to do
Brazil, as hosts, have already qualified so their coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, has only a series of friendlies in which to attempt to forge his collection of talented individuals into something approaching a useful unit. They were a mess in a recent 2-1 loss against England at Wembley, started brilliantly in a 2-2 draw with Italy, then scraped a 1-1 draw with Russia this week. There is work still to be done but, with Neymar and Oscar and the rest, they certainly have something going for them.
Africa (CAF)
Ten group winners go into knockout round, five winners qualify.
African champions in tight group
After their triumph at the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, Nigeria are under the most scrutiny but their route to Brazil will not be easy. They need to win their group – we are halfway through the group stages – to reach the knockout round. So far Nigeria are top of Group F but only on goals scored and so Stephen Keshi's side, featuring Victor Moses and Jon Obi Mikel but a good mix of Nigerian-based players too, will need to avoid upsets in their trips to Kenya and Namibia in June.
Egypt start quickly
They are the most successful team in the African Cup of Nations but Egypt have not reached a World Cup since 1990. American coach Bob Bradley hopes to change that next year and they have started perfectly, with three wins from three games. Mohamed Aboutrika's late penalty sealed a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe this week, meaning two wins in June can assure Egypt's passage to the autumn knockout round. After all that has happened in recent years Egypt are desperate to make it to the finals.
Tunisia have also won all three of their games so far, and can qualify for the third round with their next match if they beat Sierra Leone and the other result goes their way.
Ghana have work to do
The quarter-finalists at the 2010 World Cup, only the third African team to reach that stage, Ghana have a fight on to reach Brazil 2014. They are in a very uneven Group D, with 2012 African champions Zambia but weaker sides Sudan and Lesotho. Having lost 1-0 in Zambia in June, they will need to beat them in the deciding match back in Ghana in September. Tempting Kevin-Prince Boateng back out of international retirement would certainly help.
Asia (AFC)
Four qualify automatically from two groups, third places play off for right to play off against fifth from South America.
Japan have one foot on the plane
The top two teams from the two fourth-round groups qualify automatically, and Japan are closest to ensuring their safe passage. The 2011 Asian Cup champions are six points clear at the top of Group B, but a 2-1 defeat by Jordan on Tuesday slowed their progress.
With a few exceptions – such as the Premier League's Maya Yoshida and Shinji Kagawa – the team is based primarily in Japan and Germany, and they have an impressive mix of technical quality and organisation. A draw in their next game – Australia at home – will be enough to book their passage to Brazil next summer.
Can Uzbekistan do it?
One of the sides who could make their World Cup debut in Brazil, Uzbekistan are top of Asian Group A. The former Soviet nation has been independent since 1991 and while the domestic league was well-funded enough to attract Rivaldo once, it has never threatened at international level. But with manager Mirjalol Qosimov unbeaten so far they are close to confirming at least a play-off place, while a result in South Korea in June should be enough to seal qualification.
Might Jordan hold off Australia?
Australia have reached three World Cups and Jordan none but the Arab nation can qualify for Brazil at the Socceroos' expense. Separated by just one point in Group B, they have a crucial qualifier in Melbourne in June. Jordan have already beaten Australia and Japan in Amman with a team based almost entirely in the Middle East.
Central and North America (CONCACAF)
Top three teams qualify, the fourth plays off against New Zealand.
Panama's time?
The top six Concacaf teams are now in their final group stage, known as "The Hexagonal", with the top three automatically qualifying. Only three of the 10 rounds have been played but the surprise early leaders are Panama, another country who would play at their first World Cup.
The small nation, on the isthmus between Costa Rica and Colombia, did reach the Gold Cup semi-finals in 2011 but baseball has traditionally been more popular. The management team of twin brothers Julio and Jorge Dely Valdes is trying to make history.
Can Klinsmann make another finals?
Jürgen Klinsmann took Germany to the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup and would love to take the United States to Brazil. But his tactics and selection have not been universally popular, and his recent dropping of captain Carlos Bocanegra was certainly controversial. The United States have four points from their three games, and there will be lots more hard work left between now and October.
Can Mexico punch their weight?
The 2012 Olympic champions are among the great underachievers in international football, having only reached two World Cup quarter-finals, and those – in 1970 and 1986 – both on home soil. And with three draws from their three "Hexagonal" games so far there is certainly room for improvement, after a 0-0 draw with the United States in Mexico City this week.
Oceania (OFC)
Group winner plays off v Concacaf fourth.
New Zealand
With Australia now officially part of Asia, New Zealand did not have a difficult task winning the Oceania group, thumping New Caledonia, Tahiti and the Solomon Islands. All they have to do now is stay fit for November's play-off against the fourth-best Concacaf team.

Manchester United : Ready to lift the 20th EPL trophy

Posted by TR On 01:22

After a 15 point gap between rival City, Manchester United is ready to lift their 20th Barclay's Premier League Trophy. Last they had a 10 point lead but City reduce the gap every weekend to lift their first EPL trophy in goal difference.
Manager Ferguson signed Robin Van Persie from Arsenal to avoid another goal difference disappointment. The club currently holds the record for most top-division titles (19), the most FA Cups (11), and the most FA Cup Final appearances (18)Manchester United holds the record for the most Premier League titles (12), and was the first English team to win the European Cup in 1968. The club's most recent trophy came in August 2011 with the 2011 FA Community Shield title.
The only major honor that Manchester United has never won is the UEFA Europa League, although the team reached the quarter-finals in 1984–85 and the semi-finals of the competition's precursor tournament, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, in 1964–65.

Sir Alex Ferguson admits United have put a lot of thought into keeping the squad fresh for the taxing Easter holiday fixtures at Sunderland and Chelsea.
The Reds will fly back from the North-East before making the journey to London after laying on private jets to ferry some of the international stars home from various exotic locations in midweek.
Nemanja Vidic says he won't be celebrating any title success until he has the trophy in his hands after last year's disappointment.
The Reds let an eight-point lead slip in the table in 2011/2012, crucially allowing Manchester City to move top with a 1-0 win the derby ahead of winning their final two fixtures with Newcastle and QPR.
It means United are not getting carried away with a 15-point advantage this time around, even if many pundits are already referring to Sir Alex's side as champions-elect ahead of the trip to Sunderland.
"We didn't expect this situation, at this stage of the season, with nine games left," said Vidic. "No-one expected that but we are happy with it. Especially the way it went in this league, even last year, we were eight points clear and we dropped the points.
"That is why there are so many points this year and people are still saying 'are you sure you are going to win the title'. You are never sure until you have the trophy in your hands. We are 15 points clear but we still have big games to play. I keep saying that. I know people are saying we have the title already but we have to play Chelsea, West Brom, Swansea etc. They are teams who can hurt you. They are tough games. Teams who are fighting relegation. We just have to keep winning.
"We have reacted well this season. We trained hard and we got into the situation we are in now. We are in charge of the title. We are going to Sunderland, we are not bothered whether they celebrated or not last year. We are going to play our game and try to get the three points, which is important for us. We want to be 15 points clear before we play Manchester City. It is a big game for them but it is a big game for us as well so we will try to do our best."

Son Heung Min : More Important To HSV

Posted by TR On 05:50

Back in the month of September, Hamburger SV were staring down the barrel having lost their third straight BuLi game to Frankfurt. Under-pressure management, under-pressure coach and hosting the defending champions in their next game, the near future didn’t look bright for the club celebrating its 125th anniversary. Fast forward a month and the grass looks a lot greener. Just one defeat in the league and wins over Dortmund and Hannover have precariously placed them 7th in the table and with a strong shout for European football next season.
The sleeping Dinosaur has finally woken up and a lot of this has been attributed to the signings of van der Vaart, Jiracek and Badelj in the last week of August but the best piece of business was done long back, when a 16 year old school drop out joined the academy. Son Heung Min has come a long way and so have Hamburger SV in the past few weeks. Can’t be a coincidence, can it?
The game against Dortmund is where it all started. With a tension filled atmosphere in the Imtech Arena, Hamburg raced away to an early lead with Son scoring a header with two minutes gone but the lack of self belief was visible as Dortmund came back stronger. Two Perisic and two Hamburg goals later, Hamburg had snapped Dortmund’s 31 match winning streak and Son and van der Vaart were in the thick of the action, with two goals and two assists respectively. The signing of the Dutchman was seen as a major coup but with Rudnevs and Berg not in the best of form, the attack looked toothless.
It was Son who stood up and shone in a high profile and tense home game and eased the increasing pressure on the management. And not for the first time. Even last season when Hamburg were struggling to keep their feet in the top tier Son popped up with crucial goals against Hannover and Nurnberg, helping Hamburg stay afloat and make it to the 50th edition of the Bundesliga. So what is it that makes Son such a key player in the side?
Firstly, Son glues the attack. He involves players, makes runs and eventually makes good use of Rafael van der Vaart’s passing and shots from distance. The problem with Hamburg usually lies in the fact that Rudnevs is fairly poor at holding the ball leading the line, and this is where Son becomes handy. He not only holds play when required but also makes brilliant runs. Drawing players out of position is perhaps the most unnoticed art in football, but the way it can open up spaces in the opponent defence can only be seen to be believed.
Add to that Son’s excellent heading ability and his brilliant leap and Hamburg have got a precious talent in their hands. As for now his finishing is far from what would be expected of a striker and remains one of his weakest suites. After having been out on the sidelines for most of the last season, the South Korean attacker has taken time to gel up with his teammates and his below par performances against Bremen and Nurnberg can be attributed to that. In a short span of time a better understanding has now blossomed between him and the rest of the players, and his involvement in the build up play is there for all to see.
In their 2-0 win at Augsburg on Friday, Rudnevs set Son up for the goal, and there were a number of brilliant link ups between van der Vaart, Rudnevs and Son himself. The fact that Son has the uncanny tendency to show up in the big games doesn’t go unnoticed either. Taking nothing away from VDV whose mere presence seems to have stirred up the dressing room and the team’s performances, Son looks like the most important piece of Thorsten Fink’s puzzle.
For all his interplay and movement, taking a punt from range adds to the lack of predictability he offers. The one thing Fink might look to educate the 20 year old about, is to stay wide against teams defending narrowly and thus crowding the central channels. Improvement in crossing and finishing will only make him more and more influential in the team.
Hamburg fans would be hoping the positive showings aren’t just another phase in what has been a painful and forgettable recent past. With only sporadic success throughout their 125 year history, the occasion couldn’t get bigger for Hamburg in this historic 50th edition of the Bundesliga, each of which has involved The Dinosaur. Though in those attempts, to achieve anything substantial they would need their best players to perform to their best, the most important of which happens to be a 20 year old South Korean. More of those left footed strikes please.

Fun with Numbers With Messi

Posted by TR On 03:11

Lionel Messi is now just five away from Gerd Muller's legendary mark of 85 goals and his 2012 haul is greater than the total amassed by a host of clubs.Where Lionel Messi is concerned, numbers speak louder than words. Every week the Argentina international seems to smash a new record and his two goals against Spartak Moscow on Wednesday bring him even closer to Gerd Muller's mark of 85 strikes in a calendar year.Messi's staggering statistics not only put most forward players to shame, but some club sides too.
A look at how Leo's 80 goals in 2012 stand up to other teams, strikers and rivals in the same calendar year.

80Messi's goals for Barcelona and Argentina in 2012. He is currently five behind record-holder Muller, who netted 85 for Bayern Munich and Germany in 1972. Leo has up to nine games left to surpass Muller's mark.

80 - Liverpool have scored 80 times so far in 2012. The Reds' big chance to overtake Messi (if he is still within sight) will come at Christmas - when Spain enjoys a winter break.

76 - AC Milan, last season's Serie A runners-up, Champions League quarter-finalists and Coppa Italia semi-finalists, have scored only 76 times so far in 2012.

76 - The goals scored in this summer's showpiece international tournament - Euro 2012. Messi, of course, did not take part, but will end the year with more strikes than those racked up by the 16 European nations in Poland and Ukraine.

75 - The highest-scoring South American in a calendar year had previously been Pele, with 75 strikes in 1958. Messi is still waiting for the DVD ...

68 - The majority of Leo's goals have come with Barca in 2012, but 12 were scored for Argentina - his most productive year by far for the Albiceleste. Messi, however, was unable to break Gabriel Batistuta's 1998 record as Argentina drew 0-0 with Saudi Arabia last week. One for next year perhaps.

67 - The number of goals Miroslav Klose, the other person who is about to break a Gerd Muller record (his 68 for Germany) has scored in 11 years and eight months of international football. Messi has 31 already for Argentina, at the age of just 25.

66 - Arjen Robben, a player once (peculiarly) compared to Messi by sections of the Spanish media, has scored 66 goals for club and country since moving to Bayern Munich in 2009 - 14 fewer than Leo has netted this year.

62 - In the time it has taken Messi to net 80 goals, Malaga have scored just 62 times - despite finishing fourth in La Liga last season and qualifying for this term's Champions League second round already.

59 - Cristiano Ronaldo's goals for club and country in 2012. He is some way short of his fiercest rival.

54 - So too is Neymar.
51 - Juan Roman Riquelme, former international team-mate and one-time rival to Messi for a place in the Albiceleste attack, needed four-and-a-half years in Spain to rack up 51 goals - a total Messi has surpassed in each of the last two seasons and is set to supersede again this term.

42 - Messi's former team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Atletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao, considered by many to be the best striker in the world, have both netted 42 times for club and country this year.

32 - While Leo has smashed 68 goals for Barca in 2012, the club's other forwards have managed just 32 goals between them in the same time frame. Alexis Sanchez has 10, Pedro nine, Cristian Tello seven and David Villa six. Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas, who has been utilised in forward positions on occasions, has scored nine in the current calendar year.

13 - Messi ended as Pichichi in La Liga last season, with 50 goals, outscoring every team outside the top six apart from Rayo Vallecano (53). Osasuna, Mallorca, Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, Getafe, Real Sociedad, Betis, Espanyol, Zaragoza, Granada, Villarreal, Sporting Gijon and Racing Santander all managed fewer goals than the Argentine.

12 - Juventus' two top scorers in 2012, Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella, have netted just 12 apiece in all competitions since the beginning of January.

2 - Alexandre Pato's club goals in 2012. He has none in Serie A during that time.

1 - Messi has admitted he tried to base his game on that of fellow Argentine Pablo Aimar, but the former Valencia man is hardly prolific these days and has scored just one goal for Benfica in 2012.

Man United Ready to Fork Out £20m to Sign Young England International

Posted by TR On 08:39

Italian source CalcioMercato claim that Man United are ready to spend as much as €25m (£20m) to sign England international Wilfried Zaha.
Hot Pursuit - WILFRIED ZAHA
The Crystal Palace man has been in fine form over the past 18 months and earned a surprise call-up to the senior national team set-up as a result. New Eagles boss Ian Holloway faces a fight to keep the young attacker and the South London side will want a big sum if they are to sell their prized asset and £20m may well be enough to secure the 20 year old.
Man United have adopted a youthful transfer policy over the past few years and Sir Alex Ferguson must clearly feel Zaha has what it takes to make it in the top tier.
Zaha has already racked up over 100 appearances for Crystal Palace and may well achieve a move to the Premier League with his Championship table topping side but a move to Man United will certainly tempt the Ivory Coast born attacker.
In recent seasons Ferguson has opted to bring in young talents from across Europe, and beyond, in preference to spending huge sums on established stars, Robin Van Persie’s move from Arsenal being an exception.
Javier Hernandez, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and David de Gea made swift impacts in the first team and Ferguson will hope for similar successes in the form of Nick Powell and Angelo Henriquez, who both signed for Man United in the summer.

Newcastle United up for Loic Remy or Moussa Sissoko or Mathieu Debuchy??

Posted by TR On 08:36

And in CalcioMercato yesterday, there was a report that Newcastle were lining up three players in the French League to bring to Tyneside in January.
And those players identified were Mathieu Debuchy of Lille, Moussa Sissoko of Toulouse, and Marseilles striker Loic Remy, who Newcastle were first linked with back in 2008.
Newcastle tried to bring Mathieu Debuchy in over the summer, but wouldn’t pay the fee Lille were asking at the time, but it could be that the French club have softened their stance on a player who has played for the Lille first team since 2004, and would cost around £6M.
Loic Remy is a talented player, but he would cost quite a bit to bring in from Marseilles, where he has a contract there until 2015 and cost around €15M when he was transferred from Nice to Marseilles a couple of years ago.
And we don’t think Newcastle would pay nowhere near that amount, even for a 25 year-old, so we don’t really see how Newcastle can get this player on Tyneside, he looks to be too expensive.
Moussa Sissoko is a different case, and his contract runs out in the summer, and maybe a £2M bid in January would allow Toulouse to get something for their central midfielder, and not lose him for nothing in the summer. But there are also other big clubs interested in acquiring the French International.
Of these three we think it’s plausible that Newcastle could bring in both Debuchy and Sissoko, but we also need reinforcements at striker and at center-back, and we would hope some deal can be done to strengthen those positions too, but that may be difficult to get so many players in during the January transfer window..

Everton hope for Barkley loan boost

Posted by TR On 08:33

Everton manager David Moyes hopes Ross Barkley can follow Leon Osman's example and prove himself at the top level after spending time on loan at a Football League club.

Barkley, 18, has returned to Goodison Park after a little over two months in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday.
The midfielder was sent on loan in order to get regular first-team football, as fellow midfielder Osman was early in his career.
Barkley made nine appearances for Everton last season and has made one - against Leyton Orient in the Capital One Cup - so far this term.
But with captain Phil Neville set to be out for around two months after having a knee operation, he is likely to get opportunities to impress in midfield.
"We were happy for Ross to go out there and play the games on loan," Moyes told theLiverpool Echo. "I think it's been good for him.
"He's been playing in big games. We've had him watched in all the games, and I've watched him personally play in two games, against Leeds United and Blackburn.
"For the first three or four games it took him a little bit of time to settle, but he has then made a bigger impression.
"Ross has done great. He is a young boy, 18, and those games in the Championship will bode well for us and for him."
Osman played in League Two as he gained experience with Carlisle in autumn 2002, and then had a spell in the Championship with Derby in 2004.
The 31-year-old has long since become a regular at Goodison Park and made his England debut against Sweden in Stockholm last week.

Liverpool chasing Vitesse striker Wilfried Bony for January Transfer

Posted by TR On 08:31

Liverpool look set to make one of their first offers of the January window to Dutch Eredivisie club Vitesse for the services of 23-year-old striker Wilfried Bony. According to the Daily Express on Nov. 19, 2012 the English Premier League club is lining up an offer in the range of £8 million for the player.
Bony has had a breakout season so far in the Holland top flight having scored 12 goals so far this campaign to lead the Eredivisie scoring charts. The new mantra of the Reds is to buy young and allow the players to have the time to grown into manager Brendan Rodgers’ systems of total football.
Having seen the fast adaptation of former Heerenveen star Oussama Assaidi to Liverpool’s system since he arrived in January from the Eredivisie, it is expected that another young addition from one of Europe’s best developmental leagues could be a solid investment.
It must not be forgotten that the Reds’ star striker in Luis Suarez also got his European star in the Eredivisie with Groningen and then Ajax before he was purchased by Liverpool two years ago come this January.

David Beckham to play his last game

Posted by TR On 20:03

David Beckham is to quit Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season - just months after signing a contract for a further year with the Major League Soccer side
The 37-year-old former England captain has spent the past six years with the Galaxy, but will bow out following their championship game against Houston Dynamos on December 1. But he paved the way for a return to the MLS in the future - as a club owner.
"I've had an incredibly special time playing for the L.A. Galaxy, however, I wanted to experience one last challenge before the end of my playing career," Beckham said on the team's website. "I don't see this as the end of my relationship with the league as my ambition is to be part of the ownership structure in the future.
"In my time here I have seen the popularity of the game grow every year. I've been fortunate to win trophies, but more important to me has been the fantastic reception I've had from fans in L.A. and across the States. Soccer's potential has no limits in this wonderful country and I want to always be part of growing it."
Beckham, 37, scored seven goals and set up five others in 28 games with the Galaxy this season.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder is not likely to be short of offers once his time in the MLS comes to an end. He denied links with Australia's A-League at the weekend after Football Federation of Australia said preliminary talks had taken place.

Nicklas Bendtner opens the door to Spurs

Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner has opened the door to a controversial switch across north London to Tottenham if his stay at Juventus doesn’t work out.

The Dane is currently on loan in Turin but has struggled to win a regular place in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up.
Now Bendtner, who spent last season at Sunderland, insists he wouldn’t rule out a move to Spurs out of any blind loyalty to his current employers.
'History is filled with examples of players moving between rival clubs and I can't rule out clubs due to where I might have been in the past,' Bendtner said.
'It might not be the best idea but if the project matches my ambitions I would have to be interested.'
He added on bold.dk: 'I still have a great relationship with London, which is a city that I adore.

'I have a lot of friends in London and there are a lot of great clubs in London, so I wouldn't rule out a return.'
Bendtner has not scored in his seven appearances in a Juve shirt, and it's unlikely the Italian champions will move to sign the Danish international on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
